Born in Nicosia, Cyprus, my formative years were split between Cyprus and Australia. I moved to Melbourne permanently in 2000 after serving in the Cypriot National Guard.
An artist at my core, music and literature gave way to a more “pragmatic” career as I spent a decade working in information technology and management roles. More recently, I helped people and businesses tell their stories online through my independent agency offering consulting and various digital platforms. My creative journey continued with training in film & television at JMC Academy in 2018 where I reignited my passion for cinema and discovered my calling as a director. The great director, Akira Kurosawa once said "It costs a great deal of money to make a film these days. And it is hard to become a director. You must learn and experience various things and it’s not so easily accomplished. But if you genuinely want to make films, then write screenplays... it is only through writing scripts that you learn specifics about the structure of film and what cinema is." In 2019, I was accepted into the screenwriting program at the Victorian College of the Arts where I studied, through theory and practice, the anatomy of great films and screenplays. After graduating with a Master of Screenwriting in 2020, my directorial ambition led me to explore the acting craft; to understand the actor and gain familiarity in front of the camera before I can take my place behind it. I undertook training at Brave Studios, Zen Zen Zo and Brisbane Arts Theatre as I developed a number of short and feature length screenplays. In 2023, I moved to Brisbane and began my directorial training in earnest at Griffith Film School. With each project I honed my filmmaking process to foster synergy with fellow collaborators. During my time at GFS, I directed a number of film projects and graduated in 2024 with a Graduate Diploma in Screen Production. I am currently working on a slate of short and feature film projects in various stages of development and look forward to their realisation in 2025 and beyond. I'm excited about the possibilities for Australian cinema in the future and am keen to build enduring relationships with local filmmakers who are passionate about cinematic storytelling. |
